I am incredibly honored to be nominated for this really fun award by the lovely Larice of Feeding Your Beauty. She has an amazing blog with delightful recipes and incredible pictures. I must admit I get a tad jealous of her photos, her staging and lighting is beautiful. If you want to explore some great recipes that are designed to nourish the body and indulge the taste buds, check out her blog. You won’t be sorry!
Here are the guidelines for The One Lovely Blog Award:
- Thank and link back to the person who nominated you (mention your nominator in your own award post with a link back to their original award post).
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on their blogs (usually on their about page or contact directly if necessary) to let them know.
Here are 7 things about me…
- I love mountain biking, and hate road biking. My husband thinks that I am rather silly because of this, but I feel like riding on pavement is really boring. True story: I bought a mountain bike right after my husband (then boyfriend) and I started going out. I want to impress him that I wanted to share his interests but got totally hooked myself!
- The first thing I ever baked by myself was a blueberry pie. I was 7, and my mom had left me in the care of my older sister for the day. My sister was busy, and I went in the kitchen and decided I wanted to bake something. I had watched and helped my mom make pie a million times, so I figured I could do it. When my mom came home, there was a beautiful blueberry pie sitting on the table. She wouldn’t believe I made it! (My sister was keeping an eye on me the whole time and helped me with the oven… Thanks sis! You helped me find my foodie ways)
- When I started college 10 years ago, I wanted to be an interior designer. I went from that to Fine Arts, then Family and Consumer Sciences, got married and took a break from school for a few years, and then moved on to Sport and Exercise Science, and then finally figured out that what I was really passionate about is Nutrition. Moral of the story? You don’t always know exactly what you want to do or become at the beginning of your story. It’s ok to change your mind, try out new things and take your time!
- I am very new to social media. I’ve had a Facebook account for a long time, but that was it until I started blogging. Now I have a Twitter account! I know, you are completely impressed, right?
- Along the lines of honesty and newness, I knew next to nothing about food photography 3 months ago (check out my first posts if you don’t believe me…) I still don’t know a lot, but it’s amazing what natural light and a little staging can do. It’s also helpful if your toddler isn’t trying to use you as a human jungle gym or trying to pull your beloved food creation off the table as you are trying to take pictures… Also, flash is evil! Never use flash!
- I am a stay-at-home mom. It is the most exhausting, labor-intensive, rewarding job I have ever had.
- I love to cook while listening to music that matches the ethnicity/mood of the food I am making. Salsa music? Mexican food! Jazz? Steak or some other hoity-toity dish! Bollywood? Let’s just say there will be a lot of cumin involved.
Now that I have bared my soul to you 😉 here are the blogs that I would like to nominate for this fun award. Check them out, they are all fantastic!
Thank you, Bekah! I’m very humbled by your compliments! I loved learning a bit more about you, I had to laugh at your comment of being used as a human jungle gym while photographing..I can totally relate! And quite often my daughter makes a run for it with the props and/or food as well! I have so many photos with a little chubby hand sneaking into the frame lol
